Renee Darden is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Board Certified Behavior Analyst in Miramar, Florida. She works with individual adults, couples, and parents. Many of Renee’s clients come in to address family and intimate relationship conflicts punctuated by communication challenges, anxiety, trauma, and difficulty in adjusting to transitional phases of life. Renee is particularly passionate about serving minorities and people of color, new parents, and recent graduates.
Renee is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Applied Behavior Analysis Therapy, in which we explore the intersection between thoughts (the "why") and behaviors (the "what"). She also has advanced training in the area of attention deficit disorder, autism spectrum disorder, and adjustment disorder. In session, Renee focuses on discussing underlying issues, how certain repeating interaction patterns of behavior affect outcomes and whether they result in individual strengths or struggles. We also discuss assigned reading as well as teach calming/relaxation skills. This approach supports clients with gaining understanding of how their emotions, thoughts and resulting behaviors affect others and are able to use the skills learned to improve meaningful connections.
Renee's style is thoughtful, engaging, and goal-oriented. When clients first start therapy, we will explore their history and contributing factors and set goals.
Renee received a Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University as well as a second Masters degree in Professional Behavior Analysis from Florida Institute of Technology. She has worked at community agencies for over two decades assisting adults with mental illnesses, at risk youth in underserved populations, and parents of children on the autism spectrum. Outside of private practice, she enjoys spending time connecting with her husband, children, extended family and friends. Therapy sessions are currently being conducted virtually through our secure telehealth system.
